About Nancy Casella
An experienced education professional, Nancy Casella currently serves as an associate adjunct professor at both Hunter College at City University of New York and St. John’s University. Certified as a New York State School District Administrator and a School Administrator/Supervisor, Nancy Casella has over three decades of teaching and administration experience.
Nancy Casella began her career in 1982 after graduating from Hunter College with her master of science in special education. For four years, she served as a special education instructor at JHS 141 for grades seven through nine. She then accepted her first administrative position as an education evaluator, coordinator, and case manager for Seward Park High School’s special education department. She held this position until 1989, during which time she returned to Hunter College to receive a professional diploma in administration and supervision.
From 1989 through 2000, Nancy Casella was an education administrator and an assistant principal at several New York schools. In 1997 she received a second master’s degree in forensic psychology, and in 2000 she began working as the assistant chairperson of the Committee on Special Education for District 28 in Queens. From 2005 to 2006 she worked as the regional administrator for special education for Region 9. During that same year, received her doctor of education in educational administration from St. John’s University and began working as an associate adjunct professor for both Bronx Community College and St. John’s University. After simultaneously holding several administrations jobs, she accepted her second current position at Hunter College in 2013.
